The luxurious space features an incredible seated restaurant, serving up contemporary French creations by renowned Executive Chef Romain Avril. The impressive menu with specialty items such as Avril’s famed tuna tartar, and herb crusted Ontario lamb saddle, combined with Lavelle’s lounge bar, creates the perfect place for a special, and delicious evening.
King West’s latest addition, Baro, is where traditional Latin culture and cuisine is reimagined with a modern flair. Inside the trendy, lively bar atmosphere (which includes a speakeasy on the upper floor), Chef Steven Gonzalez offers up delicious sharing plates like ponzu-spiked Hamachi ceviche, and Colombian style beef empanadas, as well as main courses such as, the chaufa, a bibimbap bowl featuring duck confit, edamame and Anaheim chilis. Of course, to top it all off, Baro features a long list of tequilas and unique cocktails, which will go perfectly with any dish.
The popularity of Planta, a new Yorkville plant-based eatery headed up by Nota Bene’s own David Lee continues to grow. Beyond the aesthetically beautiful décor of the custom designed restaurant, Planta is serving up some very innovative 100% plant based dishes worth a try. Must try appetizers include the coconut ceviche, which is topped with sliced avocado and smashed organic corn nuts, and the fresh watermelon poke. As for mains, the 18 carrot dogs is a fan favourite.
On top of the tasty vegan food, the upscale restaurant serves cocktails with cold-pressed juice bases from Village Juicery.
Oretta is a new and trendy Italian joint on King West, which features a sophisticated, but also casual dining experience. The upscale dishes, like the lamb shoulder and perfect tagliatelle make this spot one that you will start to frequent. The chic retro and modern space also has a small café where you can stop by for a quick coffee and pastry to enjoy on the patio or take to go.
Superpoint was recently conjured up by Jesse Fader and Jonny Poon of Bar Fancy, and is an amazing wine bar, which also features a delicious Italian-inspired menu. The super trendy spot on Ossington, decorated with neon and 90’s style string lights, not only serves up New York style pizzas and pastas, but also dishes like Garlic shrimp which is served in a cognac and Maggi sauce, and spring roll appetizers. Better yet, with a list of 30 or so wines, you are sure to stay a while. P.s. If you order a magnum of champagne, you will get a cheese pizza free of charge.
